Pool pump, filter and chlorinator repairs.
Diagnosed, then fixed. When the water won't stay right, the problem's often on the equipment pad — we find the fault and tell you whether it needs a clean, a repair or a replacement.

Saltwater pools aren't chlorine free. A salt chlorinator makes chlorine from the salt in the water, using electrolysis.
So when it stops producing properly, the chlorine drops. The first sign usually isn't an error light — it's cloudy or green water.
Scale on the cell is a common culprit, and it needs cleaning the way the manufacturer recommends. Other times it's the control unit, a cell that's done its dash, or salt and water balance that's out.
We check your chlorinator on every service. On a repair call we test the water, look at the cell and the unit, and tell you plainly what it needs before any work goes ahead.
Signs it needs a look
- Chlorine stays low even with the unit running
- White scale building up on the cell
- Low-salt, no-flow or error warnings
- Water going cloudy or green between cleans
- Unit not switching on with the pump
Pump making strange noises?
The pump pushes water through the filter and the chlorinator. When it struggles, everything else does too.
HealthyWA says a home filtration system should filter all the pool water within 6 to 8 hours, and keep running for at least an hour after the last swimmer gets out. A tired pump can't keep up.
Grinding, screeching, won't prime, leaking, weak flow at the returns — get it checked early. Sometimes it's just a blocked basket or an air leak. Sometimes it's the motor or the seals.
A pump running rough is a cheap fix now, and a costly one once it fails mid-summer. We'll find the fault and tell you straight whether it's worth repairing or due for replacement.
What we diagnose
- Loud, grinding or screeching noises
- Won't prime, or keeps losing prime
- Water leaking around the pump
- Weak flow at the return jets
- Tripping the power or not starting
- Timer settings that aren't turning the water over
Filter not doing its job?
The filter is what pulls the fine dirt out of your water. Rising pressure or weaker flow at the returns usually means it needs a clean.
Sand and glass filters are generally backwashed. Cartridge filters come out and get cleaned by hand.
We record filter pressure before and after every service, and only backwash or clean when it's actually needed. That record also shows when a filter's past its best — if the pressure stays high after a clean, or the water stays dull with a clean filter, it might be time for new media, a new cartridge or a new unit.
Either way, we'll tell you what's worth fixing and what isn't.
Filter problems we sort
- Pressure that won't drop after a clean
- Cloudy water with a clean filter
- Sand or glass media past its best
- Worn or damaged cartridges
- Leaking housings, lids and valves

How do I know if my salt chlorinator's working?
Check your free chlorine. If the unit's running but chlorine stays low, the cell might be scaled, the salt might be off, or the unit might be faulty. We test the water and look at the cell and control unit to find out which.
Should I repair or replace my pump?
Depends on the fault, the pump's age and its condition. We'll diagnose it and give you a straight answer on which makes more sense.
How often should my filter be cleaned?
When the pressure rises or the flow drops. On our services we record pressure before and after and only clean or backwash when it's actually needed. Always follow your filter's instructions.
Can equipment problems turn my pool green?
Yes. Poor circulation or filtration and low chlorine are common causes of algae — so a weak pump, a dirty filter or a chlorinator that's not keeping up can all end in a green pool. See green pool recovery.
