Straight answers about what this tool can and can't do.
Can a photo really test my pool's chlorine or pH?
No instrument or app can measure chemical levels from a colour photo. Balanced pool water is essentially colourless — what a camera sees is the pool surface colour, lighting and any algae or debris tint. This tool reads that tint to flag likely issues, mainly green, brown or cloudy patterns that don't belong, and is not a substitute for an actual chlorine and pH test.
How accurate is the readings calculator?
As accurate as the numbers you enter. The target ranges come from HealthyWA's guidance for Western Australian pools and from Australian Standard AS 3633 for total alkalinity and calcium hardness. It doesn't know your pool's volume, surface, equipment or history, so treat the result as a direction rather than an exact dose, and always follow your chemical's label.
Does my photo get uploaded or stored anywhere?
No. The photo is analysed entirely in your browser on your own device. Sunnyside never sees or stores it, and nothing is uploaded anywhere.
What should I do if the tool flags something urgent?
Follow the dosing instructions on the label of whatever you're adding, and if you're not confident, call or SMS Sunnyside — especially if free chlorine is reading at zero or the water has turned green.
